Rock Band 2 Double Cymbal Expansion Kit

Bought these shortly after Christmas, and upon reading of the horrors of setting them up I found out myself just how heinous a process it is. Even after fighting for over a half-hour for the clamps that hold the cymbal posts to the drum kit to "JUST...SNAP...JUST...SNAP..C'MONNNNNNNN SNAAAP!! GAAAUGH! %&#@!" with and without powertools (one of which never fully did snap 100% together), they worked beautifully, truly adding a new dimension and surprisingly seemed to make drumming a little easier for this non-musician to do-it-up more like a real one. Infatuated, I played for hours everyday for about a week straight before getting distracted from playing for that entire next week after.

The start of having these cymbals for that third week... was every optimistic-cynic's nightmare. Having known about the terrible setup, and still choosing to trudge on. Then experiencing the setup, and still going forward from that. Then experiencing a blissful 7-days of newfound drumming glory... to suddenly having DOUBLE-HIT!??

For no obvious, apparent, or investigative reason, my cymbals started double hitting any moderately-hard hit they registered. Which, if you do your homework, a lot of the disgruntled reports over these cymbals are about. If you just want to play and don't care about your score (and your score multiplier) then you won't care that this seems to be an unfixable and common problem with these.

But I, for one, also am now hanging my head low in mourning of what-was for a beautiful 7-day stretch, and what-could've been with properly designed cymbal accessories.

[PS. Also, feel free to assume that it's just me and my cymbal pack (and dozens of others out there) and trudge onward with your purchase! Best of luck to you, honestly, because they're sadly a great addition.]

***EDIT: On a whim I did some research and looked for "repair rock band 2 cymbals" since my warranty is now long up and figured I can't make mine any worse. Turns out, there IS a somewhat promising fix to these, but get this... after taking it apart to fix the wiring, I found out that one of my cymbals don't even include all of the wiring it should, FANTASTIC!***

Xbox 360 Rock Band Portable Drum Kit

Yes, this is an easily portable drum set that works very well, but they've made one aspect of the drums easier to deal with that in turn raises a whole slew of issues. Drums have to be set up in a somewhat specific way to be played easily so unless you have a table that's long enough to place all the pads on tall enough to comfortably play the pads on and light enough to easily move into position then you're going to have a hard time playing with these. My optimal set up involve a coffee table a CD rack and two boxes. I'f you're playing on easy or medium the comfort issue will trouble you less. If you're looking for Expert FC runs (or know what that means) you're going to have to work a little to make these work for you.

Getting them place aside, the pads themselves works very well. People have had issues with the $90 drums and right now, at less than half the price these pads are taking everything I throw at them (bearing in mind that I've only played on hard and haven't tried the more insane songs). Messing around and playing as fast as I could these pads picked up every hit. If you're looking for a budget way to play Rock Band (or Guitar Hero) drums and are willing to deal with the obvious flaws in not having a base to set the pads up on then these may be right for you.

Now I don't see why anyone would go out an buy an xbox 360 controller recharger for thirty bucks when they can buy this. the other recharger require that you take out the battery pack and place it on the recharging dock, and when that happens you had better have 2 battery packs or you won't be playing for a good hour or so, I say this because I have tried the other controller rechargers out there and this one is by far the most convenient. In stead of having to take out the battery pack when the batteries are dead in your wireless controller all you have to do is plug this usb cord which comes with the recharger into your xbox and you have a wired controller, and all the while you are playing the controller will slowly charge back up, it will recharge even faster if you are not playing. I must say though the battery life for this may be just a tad bit shorter than other ones but being able to play and charge at the same time is well worth the hack off of a half hour of battery life. This charger is also very portable as well, just a rechargeable battery pack and a USB cord. One gripe I have about this may be its durability (well it was my fault though) but I would advise against having the battery charged at all times in your xbox, for it may overheat and the batteries will last 5 minutes top when you overcharge (but you gotta be charging for a week nonstop for that to happen)

Basic Xbox 360 Toolkit (also for regular Xbox)

I recently upgraded the Hard drive of my Xbox 360 and this tool-kit performed admirably. I was able to remove my 20 gig hard drive and replace it with a 120 gig hard drive. If I had only upgraded my hard drive this product would be given 5 stars.

After upgrading the Hard drive I decided to sand down my directional pad. The kit was missing a small mini philips screwdriver, making it impossible to remove the direction pad without going to my local wal-mart and buying a Jewlers screwdriver kit.


Since this kit was supposed to contain everything I needed to open up either the x-box or the controller, I was disapointed at the lack of philips, but other then that its a great kit. I would recommend it in an instant, just remember to provide your own mini screwdriver if you plan to sand your controller.

Xbox 360 Les Paul Wireless Guitar

The detachable fret board has a chronic and annoying problem. There are six retractable pins on the inside that have to be cleaned before proper function occures with regular (more than once a week) cleanings to make this guitar work. I discovered this AFTER returning two and then looking up online what was up with this guitar.

I highly recommend future guitar designs to be a one piece body construction. Don't be cheap, just make it right the first time.

Based on the old, excellently performing Xbox S-controller with added bumpers in place of black/white buttons. Thankfully they dumped the large "Duke" controller altogether. This controller can turn on/off the 360 remotely, act as a remote, works on a PC, connects to a headset, etc... It rumbles -- the $600 PS3 doesn't. It connects FLAWLESSLY. Never fails to connect and the connection never drops, ever, even though it's wireless. Battery life is extremely LONG - you'll be able to use the thing forever without recharging. Attachements exist for charge & play, Accessories for quick charge. Options for regular or rechargable batteries.

Having an excellently designed controller is key.

Removing the white/black buttons, so your right hand can rest in a position with your left hand -- both wrapping around the "stalks" of the controller, was a good decision in my opinion. It might take some people some time to get used to the bumpers. They are placed in a location where you might have previously rested your right and left index fingers when not pulling the trigger.

3rd party wireless controllers for the original xbox SUCKED! The connection dropped, they would malfunction, or else worked okay but were not rechargable (Logitech). Everything about this 360 controller is right!

Xbox 360 Text Messaging Kit

This keyboard makes playing Final Fantasy XI so much easier, however, it is actually missing buttons that are required for Final Fantasy XI chat functions.

The control key is used by Final Fantasy XI to quickly reply to a /tell sent by another player. Since there is no control key one must manually type it in.

The "/" key is in green. But pressing the green button happens to make all the text disappear. So to type "/" (which is required for just about every chat function in the game) I have to press the green button, then the button with "/" in it, then the green button again, then the "/" button again... and even then it doesn't happen all the time.

The ' key is also behind green, which is on the other side of the keypad from where it normally would be on a regular keyboard. Which is weird. So I end up using the , key instead.

Then there is no tab key. Which is required by Final Fantasy XI to use auto translate. However, this game is in the onscreen keyboard. So to use auto translate I have to use a combination of the two keyboards which is kind of redundant.

And then chat itself is too sensative. I feel like a snake with a lisp. All the letters double very often. To be fair, this only seems to happen within a game, and not in xbox live messages, but I only really use it within a game.

While the backlit is a nice feature, it turns itself off too fast and can't be disabled when it is otherwise daylight so wastes allot of battery life from my wireless controller. And while having Shift, Green, and Orange, to fit so many more characters than the number of keys, it's still a tedious function.

All in all, I would say that it is fun to have a keyboard attached to a controller, but it is not very practical. For the money spent on this I should have instead purchased a regular USB keyboard and just plugged it into the Xbox directly. I could even have bought a mini wireless USB keyboard with a backlight and it wouldn't have been that much of a hassel to use.

So I give it 5 stars for fun, but 3 stars overall because of limited usability.

This is a really nicely made piece of furniture/storage for the Rockband "stuff". I'm amazed at how much stuff you can actually get in there. We haven't tried the drums on the stand yet, but should be fine. It's well made, durable...the only thing I wish was that it sat a little higher or maybe was a little deeper, but it's really a nice piece! No more rockband clutter, and we just gained an extra bench to sit on. It is velvety lined and has compartment dividers to safely store your guitars. I think this product is a total rip off. The description of it says that it is a wireless racing wheel, but when I opened the box I found cables. The only way to get force feedback and to use the pedals is to use the stupid cables. I was very mad about this. You'd think that Microsoft would at least make an $100 product wireless. Also with the installation disk: where is it? All I recieved was a stupid game demo for forza motorsport 2 which I already have and no installation whatsoever. I am going to call Microsoft support and ask how you install the wheel. If anyone else has this problem please tell me how to fix it.

Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Chun-Li

So I'm not a professional when it comes to SF4 and basically just loved it from my SNES childhood. So, I opted for a pad and not an arcade stick. The 360 controller just SUCKS for Street Fighter. It has the worst DPad ever and is too clunky for fighting game usage. I moved to a PS3 whose controller is better than a 360 but still not the best. When I finally was able to find an SF4 gamepad, I was overjoyed. There are definitely pros and cons which I will go over.

CONS: The controller has a diagonal that you REALLY need to get used to. Blocking low, for instance, sometimes doesn't happen at all. I'll be in the middle of a block string then get hit because I'm not pressing down and back. When throwing shoto fireballs, you can't just spam them and hit Down to Forward. You basically have to use the outer edge of the circular pad to make sure that the DownForward also gets inputted.

PROS: Pretty much the rest of the pad is a pro. The buttons are laid out very nicely so that you can easily do throws, focus attacks or combos. The d-pad is designed very well so that you can easily slide your thumb from one area to another. I had no problems with jumping forward issues at all (just fireballs). People complain about the shoulder buttons for being cheap but I love them because they respond perfectly just with a tap. I like wired controllers because I don't have to worry about batteries and this one has a nice, long 10 ft cable.

Special controllers are almost necessary for playing SFIV with any degree of skill. This is the poor man's alternative to a fight stick, but it is certainly a great piece of hardware. The buttons are laid out well and the pad just feels great.

After about a week or two of vigorous use however my right bumper stopped being as "clicky" as it used to be, but still functions great a month in.

This also works for whatever else you might need for 2d fighters/old school games. Works in Windows and I use it quite frequently in the Gametap service to play all kinds of old classic arcade games.

Definitely a great buy.

I purchased this as a christmas gift for my boyfriend. The controller is stylish and functional just like a regular corded Xbox 360 controller. The logo looks great on it and is very glossy. The only draw back is that sometimes the controller causes the xbox 360 to run slowly....like the game is trying to catch up with the controller. It only does is with this controller so it's not the xbox 360. Maybe the brand has something to do with it Mad Catz. I've always had this kind of issue with this brand...dated back to my Sega dreamcast days. I wish microsoft would make the logo controllers. I know that it would work perfect. Otherwise that small detail the controller is fine.

This product is not designed to last. If you play a lot of FPS games like I do, there's a lot of joystick work to be done. The buttons work fine, trigger sensitivity is all good. The digital d-pad is a little finicky though. It takes a lot of practice to hit only ONE direction.

This controller has silicone pads on its joysticks that grip really well to your skin. However, they do NOT grip well to the plastic underneath that they are bonded to. After a while, the silicone pads start to tear open at the seam, eventually just falling off. What you get then is a rather unusable hard plastic core of the thumbstick.

You're better off spending some money on a legit Microsoft 360 controller that's built with solid construction and will be guaranteed to last.

Controller feels really good in your hand, it doesn't require you to adjust your grip for comfort it just feels right as soon as you pick up to play.Only adjustment is the (START and Back Buttons) they are under the A and B buttons insead of in the middle. the L/R triggers are crazy with one push= many and you must push both triggers to stop this thats the tweak mentioned in the title which is why I give it a 4 instead of 5 enjoy though this is a beautiful controller and should be high on your list !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only real reason I got this wireless was for the smaller buttons. I have a hard time playing the older GH games that don't sync with the Rockband controller so this looked like a good idea. The green color was disappointing, since it claims to be "metallic" but definitely IS NOT. It's basically just cheap green plastic.

The item description also doesn't mention you MUST have a WIRED 360 controller to hook this thing up to your console.

Another problem I found with it is that it has issues deploying star power and I found that frustrating because it was a good way to miss notes while trying to get the thing to register it was tilted upward.

Overall, I would avoid this product it you're just looking to get it for the color or wireless option. If you don't have problems with the bigger buttons, there are much better wireless guitars out there.

This is a cool idea,poorly executed. The stickers were very hard to peel off which took alot more time than putting them on. The fret markers(black dots) do not match up with the fret markers on the guitar neck. The double dot fret on the guitar is #12 as it should be but the double dot fret on the stickers is #10. I can't figure that out at all.I moved the double dot sticker to the double dot 12th fret where it should be only to end up with another fret sticker too short for the fret on the guitar.Because the fret dots on the guitar are raised I used a hole punch on the dots on the stickers only to find out that the 12th fret double dots on the sticker are spaced out farther apart than the ones on the guitar. Sad.

I have had a battery for my white controller for several years and havn't had any problems. I bought a pink controller and i didn't use it for a few weeks and it wouldn't hold a charge anymore. So i bought another one which i uses on a more regular basis, and it stopped holding a charge and it's only been a few months. I kept it plugged up for like a day, and it starting working again like normal. It worked for about two weeks and now it won't charge again. I can keep it plugged up for hours and as soon as i unplug it it cuts off. I would give my white battery pack five stars, but the pink one is junk.

I have to disagree a little with the previous review in regards to this snap-on controller faceplate. First and foremost the graphics for this product are right here on the page, nice blown up screen shots of what this looks like. So if you are unimpressed with the graphics that you see, why buy it? I will agree that the faceplate snaps on perfectly. A little bit of a draw back to it being a faceplate, is that it causes the buttons to be inlaid, only slightly though;I don't feel that it interferes with the functionality of the controller.
As far as going to Novasonic Mods, I went to check out the website. If you don't speak or read Spanish, then you will need to translate the page. There are some nice looking examples on there of custom mods, but no pricing list? You have to contact the guy directly by email and discuss what kind of mod you want. Who knows how much this will cost!! and it looks like you would have to disassemble your controller, or at least mail it to the guy so he can do the modification!!?? There is a link to Z Mart Games, where there are supposed to be some mods for sale, problem is, it is all in Spanish!
In concluding my review, this product is great if you are a Resident Evil fan and like what you see.It fits great and is also priced reasonably.I highly recommend this product.

Xbox 360 Controller Mod Set - Ring of Light, "X" Button, and AXBY Button Mods - Wireless and Wired - Core & Premium

I recently did this to my controller and it worked fine. It's pretty standard. One gripe I had is the seller neglected to mention that a Dremel would be necessary as well as a hot glue gun. For the buttons you are going to have to take a Dremel and hollow them out. Other than that it's pretty standard. I should also note that in the instructions it is specified to use a Phillips Screwdriver to open your controller. That is retarded, this will strip the screws. You need a TORX 8 screwdriver. Also note that there is one screw hidden under the battery pack. The mod looks pretty cool, but for the installation you really need a steady hand. This kit isn't for everyone. It requires a decent amount of precision with a dremel, and a soldering iron.
I think it's safe to assume that half of the people that purchase this mod don't actually use it.
